A pioneer in organoids and 3D bioprinting technology, he is a world-renowned expert in human cell-based three-dimensional liver models. Initially as a theoretical physicist and later as a biophysicist, he studied the interactions of genetic and general physical mechanisms during early embryonic development. A world-renowned expert in pioneering 3D tissue printing and organoid technology, he is a founding scientific member of three companies.

Scientific founder and co-founder of the first commercial bionyprinting company (Organovo) in 2007, using 3D bionyprinting technology developed in the University of Missouri's academic laboratory, and scientific founder of Modern Meadow since 2011. He has developed 3D bionyprinting technology to build tissues for drug testing and therapeutics. He is currently the owner of companies developing innovative technologies for the production of cell-based animal products (skin and meat) with the aim of reducing natural resources in their respective industries.
